We're glad to report that after a weekend of late nights, early mornings, thin mattresses, cafeteria food, nighttime games out in the snow, violent games of Spoons, loud music ... and oh yeah, just general life with 80 teenagers ... we are still alive and smiling.
Both of us were pushed out of our comfort zone to participate in last weekend's winter retreat for the youth group. We're both very glad we did it. It was especially good to get to know the kids from our small groups better, as it will help us and them connect on a deeper level with each other in the future. It was fun to see our friends, Dan & Tonya, in their element leading the trip. And we were really impressed with how good the kids were -- overall, they followed the rules, participated in all the events, had great attitudes and reached out to include everyone.
We were beat (as in, went-to-bed-at-8:30-on-Sunday-night-kind-of-beat), but thankful to have been part of the event.
