montana

we're up pretty high
We arrived home a week ago from our vacation to Montana only to discover that we had been ROBBED! The culprit has been sighted but not caught. Or killed. Yet. But David has his .22 loaded and ready. The bandit is a chipmunk, and during the nine days we were gone, it managed to steal all of the ripe tomatoes from our beloved and struggling garden. I never knew I could have so much anger toward such a small creature.

On to happier news. We had a great time in Montana. We spent two days in Yellowstone, which at times felt like being in the great untamed west, and at other times felt a bit like being on the moon. Steaming hot springs, bubbling cauldrons of mud, colorful mineral deposits -- what a weird place! We were on the lookout for animals and saw elk, moose, buffalo, a black bear and a mama grizzly with two cubs.

The rest of the trip was spent hiking, rock climbing, eating, relaxing with friends and debating if we should move to Montana. For now the consensus is no.

Now we're back and real life has kicked into gear. We'll be enjoying these last few weeks of summer as much as possible and watching out for that stupid chipmunk.
