marriage

There are plenty of examples of bad marriages these days. But there are also some really good ones. We're fortunate enough that both sets of our parents have modeled what a great marriage looks like. On Saturday we threw a surprise party for David's Dad and Mom's 40th anniversary. About 100 people came for yummy pulled pork, smoked chicken and root beer floats, and many of them had kind words for Dave and Ev about the impact they've had in their lives. It was a good day. Then last night we called to wish Karen's Dad and Mom a happy 30th anniversary ... but it turns out they sneaked away for an overnight mini vacation. Well, well. I guess that's what happens when the kids start moving out! Good. I hope you guys do lots more of that in the coming years. You deserve it. We are so very grateful for our parents and for the example they've set by the way they have loved and served each other, their families, Christ and many, many people. We love you Mom and Dad and Mom and Dad.
